Delta Airlines fined by US Officials for violating disabilities rule

Delta Airlines Flights Reservations have been asked to pay a fine of USD 2 million by the United States Department of Transportation, for violating federal rules on passengers with disabilities.

The fine amount charged is the largest of ever imposed penalty against any airline for safety-related issues.

According to the Department of Transportation, there has been lot of complaints regarding the assistance to the passengers with disabilities while boarding or de-boarding the planes in 2007 and 2008. The government also reported that Delta Airline has not been answering the disabilities complaints made by the passengers regularly.

However, the airline has been trying to settle the case without admitting its fault. Instead, it says that most of the fine amount could be used by the airline to provide more efficient services to passengers with disabilities. The airline was also cited in the past for the similar violation.
